Field Trip to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary 27/04/12

On Friday, I was a volunteer assistant for a School Field Trip to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on the Gold Coast.  A rainy day was still enjoyed by all of the students with plenty of beautiful Australian Wildlife to see.  My group of 5 students all decided unanamously that the Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo was their favourite animal of the day, I would have to admit it, along with the Tasmanian Golden Possum were my personal favourites as well.  J.G.

Wedge-tailed Eagle's Nest from a Distance 17/04/12

A few years ago, Brendon spotted this Huge Nest which we presume is a Wedge-tailed Eagle's Nest from a far distance from the road in Woolmer area. We have seen the Wedge-Tailed Eagle Pair soaring above the nest numerous times and often in this area.  As they travel large distances, we have wondered if this is the pair that often vist the skies above our patch.  The nest is located on private property and a fair distance from the road.  This pic is taken from the road late afternoon when I actually had my camera with the long lense with me.  J.G.

Great Barred-frog @ Highfields Falls at Night.

We had a very rare night without the kids recently so decided to take the torches to Highfields falls in search of Gliders and Owls.  While it was a beautiful still night we had no luck spotting anything much, besides one Brushtailed-possum coming out of a hollow and this Great-Barred Frog.  We should have just stayed at our patch to see gliders and owls!!

First sighting of a great-barred frog though!  I didn't take the camera with us on this walk so these pics were taken on my phone.  Although I have saved them in the right way, blogger doesn't want to let me change the layout - so you'll have to turn your head!

Hibiscus Harlequin Bug @ Toowoomba 01/04/12

My 9 year old son spotted this Hibiscus Harlequin Bug in the oddest spot, on a post at a shopping centre in Toowoomba.  There were no Hibiscus plants, or any plants for that matter nearby!
