Ospreys and Caspian Terns at Leeman, Western Australia 23/09/12

Leeman, Western Australia.  We had a short stop at the picturesque seaside town of Leeman while travelling.  The area is really lovely with the old Snag Island Pier still intact (see below) and a pair of Ospreys Perched on a man-made Nesting Pole overlooking the Water.  We saw a Caspian Tern for the first time here, and my how much larger they are than the Crested Terns we had been seeing!  J.G.

Beach Bird List:

  1. Nice shot of the Osprey, one of my favourite raptors.

    1. Thanks John, we were lucky as they posed quite well - keeping still allowing us a few photos! They are stunning birds and we did see one fly off and scoop up a fish from the ocean, it moved so quickly! This was a beautiful spot to visit.
