Birdlife of Meringandan Environment Park

MERINGANDAN ENVIRONMENT PARK

A late afternoon visit to Meringandan Environment Park was enjoyable, with plenty of birdlife to see even at that cooler time of day. The park is located on the site of a former quarry which holds water really well.  The large amount of bullrushes make it a perfect spot for small bird habitat.  A lone Spangled Drongo perched in a dead tree was an unexpected sighting.  There were quite a few Eastern Grey Kangaroos grazing on the grass of the park also, which are always lovely to see them in an area where they feel safe.

  • Eastern Grey Kangaroo
  • Spangled Drongo
  • Yellow-rumped Thornbill
  • Brown Thornbill
  • Double-barred Finch

  • Sulphur-crested Cockatoo

  1. I love the serene lighting. I wouldn't expect to see a drongo around now either, but you got some nice birds and I do like the bullrushes.

    1. Thanks Russell, yes the drongo was a surprise, I did get a photo of it, but was a little far away, up until this last week however, the weather has been very warm here though. I love the bullrushes too - this place is covered in them! Thanks for your comment.
