The afternoon of the Queens Birthday Long weekend was spent with a picnic and a bush walk along the Apple Gum Walk at Bullocky's Rest, Crows Nest. What seemed like a relatively small park area, evolves into an amazing walk to the Pump Hole Lookout and then along the river to Hartmann Park. We enjoyed this walk thoroughly and were very impressed with the upkeep of this park, especially after the floods. We look forward to returning to do the walk on the opposite side of the creek from Hartmann Park in the near future. A delightful sight were the red-backed fairy wrens in abundance, along with this gorgeous little pied cormorant (below) happily sunning itself on a dead branch over the water.
