Scenic drive past Walsh's Pyramid from Cairns to Mission Beach, North Queensland
26th September 2015
Driving from Cairns to Mission Beach was a scenic 2 hour drive along the highway past sugar-cane fields, misty mountains and plenty of places we wished we had time to stop at! We were destined for Mission Beach early morning for World Cassowary Day (see post here)
We can't wait until we can come back this way again with more time to explore all of the areas properly. Here is a snippet of what you will see on this beautiful drive. Please excuse that almost all photos taken on my iphone6 from a moving car!

Walsh's Pyramid at Gordonvale, covered in clouds, with sugar cane crop in foreground. Walsh's Pyramid Mountain is 922 meters high and is truly something to see! |

Turn off to Josephine Falls - we had to photograph this for my beautiful sister-in-law Josephine! Apparnetly she has already been to these falls with my brother and said they are beautiful. |

Watch out for Cawssowaries Signs! We were looking, but no such luck spotting one on our drive. |

Coming into Mission Beach there was this sign to notify drivers of a recent Cassowary Sighting. As you can see the foliage is really close to the road, so it would be very hard at times for drivers to see them coming out of the bush. There was only about 1.5m inbetween the bush and the road making me quite nervous. |
